The Hiking of the 3 Parks
Six days of hiking that will pass through the heart of the 3 most emblematic protected areas of the Alt Pirineu. From the alpine landscapes of the National Park of Aigüestortes i Estany de St. Maurici, following the humanized mountains of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park, until reaching the wildlife paradise of the Boumort National Reserve.
«The Hiking of the 3 Parks», is an immersion to the three most important protected areas of the Alt Pirineu. It will take you to discover its main attractions in a trek through multiple paths between lakes, peaks, abandoned villages, ancient pasture areas, etc. Coming across along the way with raptors, deer and other wild fauna.
A 5-day route that thanks to two road trips, will allow you to cross the mountain range from north to south through three natural areas, each with their own personality. The first park will surprise for its alpine landscapes and glacial origin lakes, the second, for the extensive and deep human vestiges and the last one for the large community of fauna that inhabits it.
Extend the route 1, 2, 3 or more extra days, completing a longer trip adapted to the needs of the visitor.
Shorten the route to the needs of the visitor.
Possibility of picking up and transporting the client from any point of the national territory and return to the place of origin.
The programme is adaptable to the client’s needs both in difficulty and in number of days.
Hotel accommodation for the night before or after the end of the route.
Day 1: Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park
Meet in the town of Boí, where a 4×4 taxi will take us to the starting point of the route.
Beginning of the walking tour in which we will cross the National Park from west to east; We will pass through Llong Lake, we will climb to the neck of Portarró d’Espot and descend to the emblematic Estany de Sant Maurici.
Will be transferred to the village of Esterri, where we will stay in a comfortable hotel and savour the typical Pyrenean cuisine for dinner.
Days 2 and 3: Alt Pirineu Natural Park
Full breakfast to charge batteries.
Transfer to Dorve, an uninhabitted village at 1400m, with a very special charm.
Start of trekking from the village of Dorve. We will climb the slope of the Noguera Pallaresa, and below the top of Calvo, we will cross towards the Vall de Cardós.
Arrive to the village of Estaon, a small village in the heart of the park, raised above the Vall de Cardós. Overnight stay in a typical and friendly Refuge, the only accommodation in the village.
Route through isolated and lonely valleys without road access, traditionally dedicated to extensive livestock, which will take us to cross high mountain pastures, until reaching the small town of Lleret. From there, we will continue along the path to the town of Tavascan enjoying a spectacular panoramic view of the Cardós Valley.
Arrival at the small and comfortable mountain hotel where we can recover strength.
Days 4 and 5: Boumort National Reserve
Full breakfast to start the day.
Transfer to the Boumort National Wildlife Reserve, where we will penetrate the endless tracks with a 4×4 vehicle to be able to closely observe the spectacular specimens of the different big birds of prey that inhabit the area.
Beginning of the route that runs through the highest peak of the Serra del Boumort (Cap de Boumort). A magnificent viewpoint located in the pre-Pyrenees.
We will go down the ancient paths and solitary mountain meadows, until reaching the Refuge of Cuberes, an old forest house that has been restored into a mountain refuge. There we can stay, rest and recover with a good dinner while admiring the inaccessible landscape that surrounds us.
Full breakfast to gain energy.
Trekking through the Serra de Cuberes where we will visit the incredible ruins of Solduga and Espluga troglodytic villages, built in the rock walls centuries ago. We will be returning to civilization by an old road that winds through the cliffs of Collegats.
Transfer to the starting point and end of the route.
- All the accommodations and meals.
- Local high mountain guides, with good knowledge of the area and the Pyrenean culture.
- Transfers between the National Park and Natural Park, and between the Natural Park and the Reserve of Boumort.
- Transfer from the ending point of the route to the starting point.
